bigger stabilizing vessel

I built myself a new stabilizing vessel. My old one is just to small anymore. This one is 14" x 40"

Nice, Jim. How many blocks can you get in that at one time versus your old one? Blocks averaging 5" x 1 1/2" x 1".

I'm just curious. I will in no way be undertaking stabilizing wood.

Sorry you had to hold back a little, maybe the next one will be just big enough.

Are you gonna let us know how an exhibition walnut rifle stock hold its zero after knocking around on a two week remote hunt up by you. Hope you don't have to fill that thing up too often.

So, maybe we'll see you next month?, Craig

I've been thinking about making a vessel myself for getting into wood stabilizing. Care to share a little more detail for us newbies?

bigger vessel

Dana
Yes no problem send me you wood you need stabilized and I will do it. The only problem with this large of vessel is I will need to buy 20 more gallons of the stabilizer. And it's not cheap. I will however be able to do a lot more wood at one time now. Instead of lots of small batches I will be able to do all wood at once. Dennis even bought me a used kitchen oven for cooking the wood once it comes out of the vessel. I was using 2 small toaster ovens before, which took forever to get the wood finished. Hope all is well with you and Sandy.

sandblasted

I just finished sandblasting the vessel this morning and will be painted today and ready to install the fittings tomorrow and then put to use by the weekend.
I am just starting to get all materials for the new hydraulic press I am building. Once I have it started I will post some pics of that as well.

Great, Jim. I'm looking to getting an order of koa sometime after the first of the year. I'm contmeplating
making all my 5 JS knives with koa handles .

Gosh, it's gotta be nice to have the fabrication skills to assemble these cool tools. I can't wait to
see this press.

Please say hi to Bev for us too.

But if you open it laying sideways like that, won't it all pour out on the floor?

You just keep the vacuum turned on. That is what keeps the wheels stuck to the wall as well
