That does look like a bowie, now that you mention it. A buffalo horn cap might look good on the end of the handle and it looks like you might have more guard than you really need ....

Yeah Ray, it is a little long, but its heat treated 1084 so I'm just going to live with it. I'm giving it to a friend who gives me axis horn. Plus it doesn't look too bad.

Kevster, did you just grind the turquoise or did you have to do anything special to get it shaped?

No reason to live with the guard that way if you don't like it. An angle grinder or a rotary tool will nip it right off and then you can shape it one your grinder. It's a nice knife all else considered and I usually don't like bowies.

The turquoise is just a composite materal, I glued the copper, turquoise and stainless together and sanded the on my grinder, and then hand sanded after that.
