Charity Raffle knives
I made these two to be donated to the memorial bowling event of a family friend that was killed in an auto accident. He left behind a loving wife and 5 young children, I wasnt able to help financially but these donated knives raised $378 for them.
I didnt have time to etch my name in them as i literally finished them within 15 minutes of the start of the event. The winner of the skinner ended up donating it back to the family and will be given to their only son on his 16th birthday. It was a great event to honor a great man. The skinner is made from aldo's 1084 3 1/4" blade Cocobolo handle Home made 9/32" moasic pins The sheath is 9 OZ hand stitched leather with a random stipple pattern [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] The bowie knife is made from aldo's 1084 3/16" x 1 1/2" the blade is 8 3/4" long a forged s guard with copper and stainless steel file worked spacers. The handle is cocobolo, and as much as i liked John Doyle's "proud" handles i gave it a valiant effort to try the style, i dont think it looks too bad for a first attempt. The blade differentially heat treated and hand sanded to 800 grit showing a faint shadowy hamon. 8 OZ black veg tanned leather with a stipple pattern This was the largest knife i have made to date, other than accidentally attaching the guard backwards with JB weld it went rather smoothly. Thanks everyone. I wished I had more time on them. I would have liked to etch the blade of the bowie knife.
