Lil' fxed blade with hamon

Heres a lil one I just finished up. Cost me some blood, but worth it....

Specs:
8.5" OAL
4.25" 1095 clay hardened blade 3/16" stock
Burgandy/Maroon paper micarta
Nickel silver thong hole
Mosaic front pin.

Blade is currently a full zero grind with a 11 degree bevel. Will be sold with a secondary bevel for ease in sharpening.

I almost never use synthetics....it was far easier in many ways than wood. I can't pinpoint exactly what was easier, but it was.....I like the outcome and just made a lil kydex sheath for it.

I'll be making some more of these with other synthetic materials soon but I wanted to do something a bit smaller, utilitarian, this time.....

The dust from this stuff sucks though....half my shop is red.

That's a keeper brother!

I like Micarta myself. Easy to use... won't break if you drop it... nice predictable grain... I have only used black though.

HEY! Where's your maker's mark!?

I'll get after it this week man. Got a lot on the plate, if you can relate.

Peace!

Yeah this was the painful one. Heh!

I am immensly enjoying hamons. I have some other steels but havent even wanted to use the damascus I have because the lure of the perfect hamon keeps calling...addictive and elusive!

This was the first of a few smaller designs I am working on. I am going to vary the handle material and design on each. For now they will have kydex sheaths but I am bit concerned about kydex scuff on the blade finish, so I may line the kydex somehow or just go with leather.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the smaller designs. In my experiance, for kydex to be tight enough to hold the knife, it is tight enough to leave rub marks. thats why I stick to wood or leather. I have never thought of lining it with leather.... good idea
