Current Project

Working on a new booklet. I had a portable steel frame story board used in the shop. The way it was only one side cold be used for a total of 20 pages sooo I cut it in half, fabbed up some swivels and now can put a max of 42 pages on both sides. Both sides swing like a gate both ways so front and back can be used. Magnets are used to hold the paper on the iron. A grizzly mill/drill is behind the board and storyboard is removed if it's needed.

After book project is finished I think about the next and gawk at the story board thinking where it will go. It's all in the computer on Pagemaker but a story board puts it right out in your face.

Swivel hinges, round pegs in square holes. The square washers were pressed on using Harbor Freight 20 ton press.

Board has the right hand side over lapping the left side, opens up bench next to drill press.

Better picture of the hinge. It squeeked/screeched like crazy, used a nylon washer on the axle, it still made noise but not as bad, rubbed the axle with beeswax, not a sound now.

Neat idea Gene. I've been offline for a bit--computer woes, but what's the new booklet about? I'm stoked that you're doing a new one.

Dana, am trying for some small hot iron forging projects, dog heads, uglie faces, a tapered winder for candleholders, springs for antler handle folders, home made tooling and some blacksmith knifes. Have about 20 pages so far, some of which were left over from previous publications. Have a computer about 10 paces from the forge so can forge, take digital photos, process them and put in a document for step by step projects. Really like doing that. Less words and more visual stuff.

Goeduk hammer in tonight, maybe make some valentine/heart decorative hot stamps and play with super quench.

Glad to hear you're still doing that. Please keep us informed as to the progress and release date.

Hey Gene, do you still have the photos of the Fiddlin' Red Knives? Would love to see 'em again.
