Schwing ! ! !

Home Run ! !

It's not as much fun as the Folder-In but it really hits all the important steps in folder making.

Great Job on a excellent reference! But I'm still coming to the next Folder-In.

Vince: You can do it, too. You just gotta keep at it!

By the way, the album is now pretty much complete (except for the typos! )

They only allow 100 photos per album.

What a tutorial!!

Tom,

A MOST EXCELLENT JOB!!!! Nice clear explanations with great pics. It don't get much better, at ANY cost! Thank you for giving back to the community hard-learned procedures and tips. I will go over this again and again.

This took time and I really appreciate it. Good work!!!

Coop

Excellent tutorial, Tom!
I wish I had found something like this a year ago when I first attempted to make folders - would have saved months and months of trial and error, not to mention materials.
This forum is excellent because of people like you, and many others, who are willing to take the time and effort to share your hard-earned methods and techniques.

Tom-

Even though we watched you go through all these steps at the folder-in (and even got to help a little ), I'm still amazed as you take us once again through all the incredibly precise steps. You are a teriffic knifemaker, a master machinist,...and a wonderful teacher as evidenced by this marvelously well done tutorial!

Thanks as always... this is inspiring.

Dennis

slitting saw

Tom, What diameter, thickness, and how many teeth per inch is the solid carbide saw you are using to cut the long slot in the frame?. Also, how deep is the relief cut supposed to be?. Is there a fixed depth for the relief cut ,or is there a minimun on thickness of the material that is left for bending the frame lock?. T.I.A.

Roland:

I'm using a Robb Jack ? 2.00" hole saw, .020" thick, with 48 teeth.

The thickness remaining after cutting the relief slot depends on the design. I leave about .080" on bigger frame-locks and about .060" on smaller ones. You'll have to experiment a bit because the length of the relief slot also factors into the locking pressure.
