A tough weekend

Whew! What a difficult weekend. We had an abrupt weather change on Friday, the Lupus flaired up, and I spent Saturday balled up on the couch, and most of Sunday too.

I have an appointment with a kidney specialist this morning.... my last bloodwork showed some alarming results in a couple of areas.....areas that made my Rheumatologist suspect the Lupus in now affecting my kidneys....something they call "Lupus Nephritis". We'll see what this appointment finds.

Had that appointment today....and got a curveball thrown at me. The kidney specialist is setting me up for a kidney ultrasound and biopsy..... honestly, I kinda went numb after hearing "possible kidney failure" and "possible dialysis". Will find out more as the appointments come through.

I've always liked the cold weather! I was just one of the unlucky ones getting this Lupus stuff. I thought it was done with me after the Docs said "In your case Lupus has attacked your lungs, causing interstitial lung disease", but have since learned it got the name "Lupus" because it ravages one body part/system after another.

During the visit, the Doctor did say that he was a little confused because my last two blood tests showed the Lupus markers were showing normal, but the tests also showed my body "leaking" proteins, and those levels have gone up consistently over the last 5 months. From what he said, it's not a matter of IF there is kidney damage, it's a matter of determining the level of the damage. So, next up for Ed is a kidney ultrasound, and then a biopsy to determine where things are. Will let everyone know when I have some news. In the meantime, I appreciate the prayers!

Our LORD Jehovah Rapha (The GOD who heals) please heal Ed in such a miraculous way that only you can receive the glory. Please let the doctors find nothing.

I have one kidney left Ed and it isn't 100%, more like stage two. I take co-q-10 and P-5-P co-enzyme of B6 or pyridoxal 5' phosphate the only active form of B6. It took me from stage four to two. My creatinine levels are almost normal. I would prefer not to do dialysis even at home, but you can do it at home. My neighbor does, it is call peritoneal dialysis and you do it while sleeping. I'm sure your nephrologist told you about it. She lives a normal life, so I thought you might like to know. I live on Oxygen 24/7 with my COPD and just got used to it.
May God bless you and your family while you go through this struggle.
