Hi Jim and welcome to the Knife Network.

I'm guessing that you're partial to model #1's.

I think the wrist thong and finger grips will help you to avoid letting this one get away.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers!

David

Yeah, I'm real happy with it.
I traded a 1911 for the first #1 at the Missoula gun show in 1975, but foolishly traded it away at the same gun show 5 years later but have been in love with the Randall model 1 ever since.
The long wait for this latest Randall was brutal but I tuffed it out. I just could not get this knife off my mind. Slowly but surely the time passed. Finally the big day I had been waiting for (not so patiently) arrived and the mailman delivered the box that contained the item of my desire, a Randall #1 with all the options I wanted. That was the longest 3 days of my life
Jim

Hi and welcome, Jim. That's a handsome knife! Finger grooved leather is my all time favorite handle. I collect the old ones. There were very few finger grooved leather handles made from WWII through to 1960. Before I narrowed my collecting to just Model 3's, I had this Model 1 in my collection:

It's from late '46 - early '47 (Very few fighters were made in the "translucent era" between WWI and the Korean war).

This 3-7 is from 1948. This photo is in Sheldon's book:

This one is mid '55. If you have any of the old RKS Newsletters, there is a small photo of it on the front page:

Best,

Ron

Great knives Ron! I always enjoy seeing them.

I thought folks might enjoy seeing a photo of you relaxing on your yacht with one of your Randalls .

Cheers!

David

Thanks, David. For some reason I don't wear those blue pants anymore

Since we're throwing out pics, have you seen the one of Crutchtip's latest girlfriend?

(I have to get him over here).

Best,

Ron

Nothing quite like knowing what you want, and then getting it......normally, it takes most folk 20-30 tries, some of us longer......four is pretty good and pretty cheap....
