Knife restoration
Is it better to restore blades or leave as is?

It depends on the knife. If it's a custom knife, especially one by a well known maker, "restoring" will destroy the value. When someone comes to me wanting a knife restored, the only time I'll do it is if it's a commercial knife, or one from an unknown maker.....otherwise I tell them that if they want it restored, they need to contact that specific maker.
