New to knife making

I am new to making knives and would like to know some books to read to try to make my first folder. And also what is the best material to use for making pins. Thanks Jason

Jason, Here's a few books that may help you. Custon Knifemaking, by Tim McCreight...How to Make Knives, by Barney and Loveless...How to Make Folding Knives, by Lake, Centofante, and Clay...and the Fifty Dollar Knife Shop, by Goddard. The first one I mentioned will get you going and the last one also. Ray

If your going the forging route, I highly recommend the series of books by Jim Hrisoulas...

The Complete Bladesmith
The Master Bladesmith
and.....The Pattern-welded Blade

Start with the first one and work you way through.....these are very good guidelines for the beginner.
