slip joint folder

I am in a quandry. I have been building knives for almost 40 years and am a member in good standing in the knifemakers guild. I build liner locks but have decided to venture into slip jointknives. Is there a formula for the positioning of the pivot pin relative to the liners and the blade. I cannot find any information on this step. The rest of the knife is pretty much of a no brainer. It cannot be "trial and error as anything mechanical has a formula regardless of its size. Please someone help me. Bob Levine levineknives@msn.com 931 454-9943

Bob,

I'm not sure what you're asking but, Bill Vining posted a tutorial on making a Texas Toothpick under the WIP Tutorials sub-form at the Knifedogs site that shows a halfstop slipjoint's geometry and I have started a WIP in the same forum on how I did one, "Lemony Snicket".

You want your pivot pin position to be 45% from the front and 45% from the bottom.

This doesn't go into detail about pin hole placement, but maybe some of the pictures and comments will help some: http://chriscrawfordknives.com/#/sli...ife/4535414914
