Shreveport LA spring Hammer Inn May 2 and 3rd

Having another Hammer Inn and all invited. It is at my house and I have a nice big shop and overhang where my power hammer, forge and press are and they will all be running. We like newbies, pros, collectors and just folks who enjoy knives. It is a Saturday and Sunday event and we will have some form of BBQ on Sat. with leftovers on Sunday. There will be forging demo's and Damascus making (powder can method and laminated billets) with discussions on construction methods, clips on blades, discussion on mosaic damascus, Mokume, grinding and heat treating. Come one and all and do some hammering.
My address is
4887 Dixie Garden Loop
Shreveport, LA 71105
318-865-8166

may 2 and 3rd

If checking for hotel look in Bossier city close to I 20 and the river

Have added an extension on the overhang where my power Hammer and forge are located and I aint scared of no rain.
Come one come all and feel free to bring friends.

Hope you have a good crowd Dan.
My Spring Hammer-in at Trackrock in NGA went very well as usual. Always lots of fun.

Anybody interested that can make it to one of these events will not regret making the effort. Lots of hard work goes into setting these events up for folks to attend. So, don't just thank Dan, but support him anyway you can. Helping hands are a true blessing setting up and taking down.

Dan, you making the trip over to Atlanta for the Blade?
If so come by and see me, I'm still at table 5-J

Yeah, I've always enjoyed putting Trackrock on. This past one was #28 (hard to believe).
Seldom get to do much forging at these anymore, too many other duties. With so many folks moving around I spend a good deal of time as "Safety Officer".......fun's not supposed to leave a scar.
Love to get the young'uns involved and let them see that opposing thumb was meant for better things than Gameboys and texting.
Hope yours goes well.

I understand what you mean about "Safety Officer". I want it to be fun for every one but safe as possible. I think this is #16 for me. Should be a good one as we will have 6 forges going if no rain and 4 if there is rain. What I like about these events is I always take home new tips and tricks and pass as many as I can on to other folks. My 1st one I went to was an ABS in Arkansas in 1994. Seemed to shave 5 yrs off of my learning process in knife making. I remember one of the mastersmiths saying "We have to pass on our knowledge" and I feel that is what we do. Wonder how it would go if I posted a sign that said "NO PHONE TEXTING" :>)

Best of luck with your hammer-in. Hammer-ins are always fun and always a lot of work as well. I usually don't get a chance to see all of the demos at mine that I would like to as I'm usually far too busy with other promotional duties but that's just part of the fun.

Let's hope that the weather co-operates. Recently it seems that the April showers are almost daily.

All my best,
Gary

I'm going to be vacationing in your state next week. Sure hope that the rain ends soon.
