Forged in Fire Observation
Has anyone else noticed that the pretty knives always win on Forged in Fire?
Performance always takes a back seat to fit and finish with those judges. Why else would nearly every finalist go through the trouble of making a damascus billet for the exotic third world 'never heard of it before' weird-shaped sword-like thing that are tasked with building when a good piece of 5160 or 6150 leaf spring would do the job superbly? Should this be telling us something about the knife market? Is this show informing the knife market? Still a fun show though. __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |
