Since this post has been resurrected after nearly 4 years can anybody tell me if they are still using this method? Is it that good that it has been used for the long haul?

And also, could somebody post a pic of their sander to give me a better idea of the set-up described? It would be most helpful.

Yep! I'm still using it. On difficult to sand steels, such as S30, CPM154, etc. it keeps me from throwing my hands in the air and screamin!

I would also like to see a pic of the sander, I assume one could use 1/4 micarta in place of the G10?
