Jdale, The reconstructed stone is a pain. It is brittle and likes to crack. Drilling it wanted to blow out the outside of the hole, even with a wood backer. Ill be avoiding it from now on. It looks nice, but is definitely too delicate for a hard use blade.

Yup, I would never use it for scales but it works just fine as decorative spacers with stick tang or stub tang handles. I never had any trouble with it cracking while working it but as Ricky said the back side tends to chip a little even with a very sharp drill but that won't matter if you're making a spacer ...

I too took a note from ray's video and got myself some reconstructed stone for my wife's kitchen knife. I thought it was really easy to work with, though I used it as a spacer.

Nice looking knives! I just used 154 cm on a knife for the first time also. Heat treat done on it, looking forward to seeing how well it polishes out, and finishing it.

Sweet job on the chef's knife. I like the hunter too, but the recon-stone and brass really pop.

Let me know your results. I found 154cm near impossible to hand finish.
