Proper heat treat for 410 for liners?
Anyone here tell the the best heat treating for 410 for liner-locks? thanx |

I haven't heat treated 410 but I found this from a MSD on a suppliers site. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Annealing 1200-1400 F (649-760 C), followed by air cooling. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tempering Temper for desired hardness, air or furnace cool. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hardening 1750-1850 F (954-1010 C), oil quench for maximum hardness. I would assume it would be similar to 416, I would take it to 950C, air quench then temper at 175C for one hour. Regards from Australia. |
