800x Cork?
Steve, first off, THANKS FOR THE CORK BELT TIP!!!!
After trying this, I wonder if you can go from a 400x belt to a 800x belt skipping the 600x? I plan on satin finishing afterwards anyway, just using the cork belt finish as a good base for it. Thanks y'all. Will |

Thank you. Glad it's working out for you.
You realize that skipping the 600x step will only save you about 3 - 5 minute's time in the belting process. After the 400x step, it goes very fast, as you probably know. From 400x to 800x might be a stretch, but just give it a try and see how it goes. Probably will just take a bit longer. Better get a good job done with the 400x first. However, that being said, I'd think that a 600x cork finish would be plenty fine enough for the next process of hand sanding. Do you really need to go to 800x? That's entirely up to you, to each his own. go with what works for you. Last edited by srjknives; 08-28-2003 at 11:03 AM. |

Steve, you're right, I'll just finish up with a 600x then off to hand power! Thanks again for the cork belt tip.
