That is another great statement of Montejano's post. Taking the mystery out of it could ruin it. Some questions are best left unanswered.

Someone please capture a small fragment by posting a pic of of an engraved reel seat.

I've enjoyed every word of this thread. Thanks.

How about both? I think that some knives' SHAPE is art, but the knife itself isn't. It may even be a production piece. This has to do with the visual 'flow' aspect that was touched upon.

From the beginning I thought of this knife as an example of the above.

Can there be art in the elements, but not the whole? No one would call this an 'art knife', but it has more in it that speaks to me than walrus ivory and scratching on just any 'ole interframe. That we all agree on.

Coop

aww Lloyd, ya should have left it. All you said was what others had stated, I'd go back and erase all my dumb ramblings if i wernt so lazy. Most times when someone sees my work and say's "you are an artist" The first thing that comes to my mind is, "I could do better". One of my bad habits is to just stay with a medium long enough to become medeocre before I get bored and move on. Like spellin'...lol

What is Art

This is a great Forum for all us People with like interests to exchange thoughts on our favorite subject , which is knives- be they Tools or Art objects... I don't get a chance very often to take back or rework a blunder of mine.... Back when I loved to drink and be an Ass that was different.. I don't do that anymore ....Sometimes though I run off at the mouth without really thinking it through.... I thank the Man that put the (EDIT) tab there.. This really is a great tool for us.......Thanks
