quality control on the ddrs bl

I recently recieved a ddr3bl and was excited to recieve it. However after recieving it, the lock spring had not been shipped with it, the scales had been drilled straight through, and after a few tightening of the screws on the handles two of the screw heads broke off. It also looks like the head of the pivot pin is beginning to strip as well. I was excited at first but i am not impressed at all by the materials quality. Are all the kits like this. I have been told that these are the best quality kits available, and if so i may need to suspend my knife making activities until i can afford and also have the space to make and create my own works. I enjoy the designs of the kits but if they are all of the same quality as the one i recieved i probably wont purchase another one. I just thought i was getting quality made parts from the USA not from Taiwan. Are my standards too high or has anyone had any of these problems as well.

Casper,

We produce our knife kits using manufacturing all over the world, including the USA, Japan, Italy, Germany, Taiwan and China. It's really dependent on the model you have, but is listed as such. We mark ours based on the origin of the blade, not the parts. I'm not sure where you read on our site that that design was made in the USA. Please post a link so that we can get it corrected.

I think you're overtightening the screws ... they don't need that much!!!

Alex,

Thanks for keeping me honest, i looked at the websight again and i do see what you mean by the sight of manufacturing. I have had a bad day and when i got on the forum i had not had much time to cool down from work. For that i appologize. As far as the screws go i only tightened them enough to close the gap between the scales and the frame so as to not let any light in between. All things considered you have great customer service and i will definety order from you guys in the future. I just wish you had more mike norris steel available.

Sincerly,

Casper

Casper use finger pressure to close the gap between the scales and frame then tork the screws down with slightly less pressure.
ive poped a few screw heads it happens with these small screws.
as for the pivot screw head stripping try using a size larger torx bit it might help grip better.
