A little dagger

Here's a little dagger I just finished. This is my first dagger, and first attempt at inlay work. The knife is 7" overall length, with a satin finished blade of D2 steel. The handle material is African Blackwood, with freshwater mother of pearl inlays from the Concho River near San Angelo, TX. I fashioned the inlay pieces from raw shells, like the one in the picture. Consider this the forerunner of a major "skunk works" project my brother and I are working on.

I get to fish a little bit... Honestly the kids' gymnastics cuts into the fishing more than the knives do. I'll find a way to make a knife and to fish, pretty much no matter what. Don't know how I'd do without either one.

I like the knife, especially the pearl. I had no idea fresh water pearl could be used.

Nice!!
