Second knife finished...finally...

I think I'll end each knife post with "finally" since it feels as though I'll never see the end of it! *L* This one was fun though.A far cry from my first and and even farther cry from being where I want to be. A special thanks to Neil Blackwood for putting up with endless questions and giving sound advice/pointers. *S*

As for the specs:
OAL 9"- 4.5" blade of D2, flat ground with a tapered tang (my first) N/S bolsters, vine filework on the back, California buckeye burl handle (love the stuff) black spacers and mosaic pin.

Thanks for looking,
Chris

Very nice Chris,
You should post this on the Display forum. Wish my second knife had looked that good.
Keep up the good work,
Mike

Nice knife bones. I like the handles. How did you get the Cajun Bones handle. I live in Baton Rouge. Are we close? Thanks and have a nice day.

2nd knife...

Calivin,

I was born in Louisiana and moved to Houston about 12 years ago for work. This knife is actually for a brother-in-law of mine in Houma. I still make it down your way several times a year. Cajun Bones is one of the few nicknames I have that aren't offensive *L*

NICE !!!!!

Chris,

The NERVE of someone to START OUT with a tapered tang, spacers, bolsters AND filework!!

How are you going to top that one????

I enjoyed our correspondance very much!! You are off to an incredible start, I can't wait to see your knives a year from now

Stay in touch,

Neil

Re: NICE !!!!!

:

New pic by the way thanks to photographer Juliana Franco- a sweetheart of a friend.

Neil, you're gonna keep bustin' my chops aren't you?

As for topping this? Goodness, let's see...working on my grinding (can you say hollow grind?), blade finish (satin more than likely). Not to mention fit and finish overall. I'd like to incorporate MANY more file work patterns (any suggestions?). I have light years to go my friend, but am enjoying every bit of the journey.

Best regards,
Chris

Chris:
WOW, what a nice job! Your talent has awsome potential no doubt. And what a great picture! Can you be so kind as to let us know what kind of camera your lady friend was using? I don't have any experience in digital photography. Keep up the good work....

Russell,

Thanks for the compliments. I'll make sure to tell her you said so. She just recently purchased an Olympus Camedia E-10. She's real happy with it so far. Although rushed, we set up in her studio and just started snapping away.

Re: NICE !!!!!

Jerry I'm new to this and have looked for the tutorial you spoke of. Where can I find it. I would like to find information on file work.

Re: NICE !!!!!

Gota say, OUTSTANDING work, I took my first and second knife and buried them in an unkown location so they will never be seen by the eyes of man again.
