cb,

I found this one that I am going to be building here hopefully at the end of the month, if you buy everything off of ebay all the metal, wheels, and motor its less than $500 and that's with a 1.5hp motor, seems very simple to build and I was looking the way it is built you can add attachments to it like a small wheel and go with a big contact wheel for hollow grinding too, I have been looking at designs for a while and this seems to be the simplest and easiest to add attachments too. all you need is a little cracker box welder.

If you need more convincing Just come to the house and give mine a whorl it will scare the heill out of you "just how fast it will ruin a knife in the blink of an eye"

If you do not pay attention to what you are doing & it will eat your fingers as well ! that being said it can also crank out some very beautiful knifes from your Brain .

If you ever wish to come by Pm me and I will give you my # and we will chat so you can come by .

If I may,

I use a KMG with the high speed pulley for all rough work. It is presently fitted with a 3 hp motor and does everything I want in a grinder. Even though it is fitted with a 3 step pulley system, I use my older "Bader II" in the slower speed for finish work. Changing the belt on the pulley takes time and is a distraction. When I am financially able, I plan to purchase a 3 hp variable speed unit for the KMG. It is just a more efficient use of time going to the variable motor.

I am an old man and I walk with the help of a stick. My bones ache and I get pretty exhausted lugging my oxygen bottle around the knife shop making knives. Every little improvement helps me to get more time on the grind and polish. We all have differing opinions, and it is my opinion that "an investment in a KMG is a really good way to go."

I wish you well, Larry Peterson
