Geno's video damascus

This lockback is the first of two that I am making from Geno's nickel stripe damascus. This was the billet that he made for his newest video which I haven't seen yet so maybe we can get his comments on the steel. My scanner doesn't give it justice but it is a three bar cable damascus with diagonal stripes of pure nickel. The handle is a combination of maple burl & blackwood.

Bob,

I finally got the URL correct. I'm sorry for the picture size. I have no idea why they come across so large.

Gary,
I fixed your pictures.
The image address you used had no file extension on the pic (i.e. .jpg, .gif, etc.) The browser saw it as a .txt file. And they were HUGE.

Billet

Thanks Pat, Now we can all see it better.
(God, I love that woman)
WOW Gary, That was pretty fast, man.
I like what you did with the wood handle too.Looks great!

For clarifications sake: I did not forge this particular billet on the video, I forged the parts, then showed what they made, This steel that is now in your knife.

It is a triple billet composite with nickel twist center running opposite directions from the outside grain pattern. It tapers at both ends to allow for two folder blades being made from a single billet split, both bringing the forge lines to the tip.(I assume we will see one more folder with similar damascus very soon now, also from Gary)

May I add that Gary is the first man ever(to my knowledge),to use this type of nickel twist damascus with cable stripes, for a folder blade.
He bought the billet I made to use for myself and beat me to the punch.(he is quick guys, you'll have to watch him.)
A forged cable damascus composite blade in folder size,a dream of mine for a long time now, finally come true. Thank you Gary.
I think it looks nice, good job.

Pat,

Thanks for the help. Luckily I'm better at knives than I am at computers.

Gene,

I finished the other knife yesterday but forgot to bring it home to scan a picture. I'll try to get it posted soon. These two won't last long in my showcase. The nickel striped blade just has a way of drawing your eye to it. I love having truely one-of-a-kind knives!
