damasteel
Hey guys so I have some small pieces of DAMASTEEL I am not planning on using it for the blade at all I actually plan on using it for bolsters. so I have done a bit of research and watched some videos and the best I have seen it come out it went into muriatic that was heated and only left in long enough to work on one of the alloys and just start to work on the other then after a few mins it was put in ferric and vinegar to darken the pattern...now I have seen vidoes of many different ways but this seems to give the most contrast. I also have seen comments here and there but no real consensus IF heat treating the steel will effect the contrast. I don't have to HT as its for a bolster but am kinda under the impression that it will help with contrast and corrosion resist.....just wondering if I am right or anyone that has used the stuff any advice?
