FKSd/Deryk Munroe S2

It is with great pleasure that I can introduce my latest collaboration, the S2, made by Deryk Munroe! This prototype features damascus forged by the man himself.

Like the S1 it uses the offset pivots to allow the handles to have an angle in the butt and to allow for interesting blade profile. However, this time my goal was to have an edge that hung quite low. (this was my least crazy attempt to do what Charles Marlowe also accomplished very elegantly with his latest offset pivot innovation).

The blued damasteel looks almost black at first glance, but looking closely at it reveals a subtlety I've rarely seen in metal. This piece is really amazing and Deryk was a great person to work with on this project. He kept me in the loop the whole way and even took time out of his day to take pictures of the piece in progress.

You can see all the pics and read more here: http://balisongtimes.com/reviews/showRev.mhtml?rid=379

And here are some pics of the completed prototype. Courtesy of Deryk and Jana.

The liners are Ti with carbon damascus bolsters and carbon fiber overlays. The blade is the same damascus as the bolsters. Unfortunately, neither I nor it will be attending the Oregon Show, although, I hope to get to Blade this year.
