"Scandi" Bushcraft

I'm waiting on materials to finish a couple knives so I am working on one for myself. The "Scandi" grind seems to be popular in the Bushcraft world so I thought I would try one.
Cutting edge is 4" and grind is 15* each side. OAL is just over 8". Steel is 1084. Not sure what I'll do with scales yet.

That grind is looking good. According to my old-timer survival instructor the blade shouldn't be much longer than your palm is wide; so you're right on the size. I love scandi grind for carving, scraping, hacking and general bushcraft. It's like a razor blade and a splitting wedge at the same time. Traditionally you'd find a lanyard hole at the back and scales would be some kind of figured birch. You've probably got that already figured out.

Regards,

Dan

Well, I finally finished a knife for myself, in between finishing others. This will now be my woods knife. It will get a leather pocket sheath with a dangler loop. A little polishing and a couple more coats of BLO and it will be good to go. Already hair popping sharp :tup:

Made from 1084HC
Blade length = 4"
Handle length = 4.5"
OAL = 8.5"
Scales = Bloodwood with 3/16 brass pins and a 1/4 lanyard tube.

Nice. I see it has your trademark bulge in the handle.
