Victor Collette Revolver and Boot Knife

Victor Collette was a famous Belgian gun maker who produced luxury guns in the 1860's. This 7mm pocket revolver is in mint condition and was just screaming for a companion knife so I made a boot knife / cuff knife to go with it. I wanted to match the ivory, the blued barrel and cylinder assembly and the "in the white" frame of the revolver: I fire-blued the guard and pommel, carved the grip from a piece of stag antler and treated the blade with a "secret" concoction to age it (mustard, boiled bleach, salt, etc...). I then made the walnut presentation case in the French style. I still need to get six rounds of original pin fire ammunition to complete the set. Those of you who have seen my gun / knife combinations know that a fine gun always tempts me to make a knife "in homage" to the gun smith... The blade is forged from W1 drill rod. 4 1/4 inch blade, 7 1/2 inch total.
Thanks for looking, as always.

Chris

Thank you for your kind comments. When I see the fine engraving work and the beautiful finish (mostly done by hand) I am in awe of these craftsmen. My work can't even come close, but I am nevertheless inspired to try.
