can't blame Trav.....

Three days after returning from the class at MCC, I hand finished my knife made in class, restored the edge with 1200 grit trizact, and buffed it out on a felt belt loaded with white rouge. The belt broke and threw the knife into my hand. Between class and this experience that could have been a lot worse, I learned a lot.

Look's bad but....

It looks bad and I know it hurts and will continue to hurt. Hopefully, you will not have any nerve or tendon damage. And it could have thrown it at your chest or face or could have severed an artery. Buffing with belts or with a wheel buffer is probably the most dangerous thing we do. The message to me is to BE CAREFUL. Russ

Shoulda, woulda, coulda.... Glad it wasn't worse. The important thing is to learn from experience so you don't repeat the bad ones.

And if you had gloves on, the belt could have grabbed the glove and wrung your hand off.

Holy crap, Tom! Sorry you had to learn the lesson of being careful the hard way.

Hope you heal up quickly.
