HOw to glue sanding belts ?

I got into knife making years ago, and bought a Coote belt grinder.
2 X 72"
I made several knives using my "fatory purchased" belts.
I bought generic rolls of abrasive, intending to learn how to make my own
belts. Then, my family started taking most of my time, and I got out of it.

Over the years, I have broken most of my belts. I have the rolls of abrasive
sitting on the shelf and I don't wish to waste them.
Can anyone instruct me on how to do this?

You cannot safely make your own belts.The glue that they are fastened with is a thermo set adhesive.It is shipped in dry ice to keep it from setting up.I have talked to the manufactures,and their techs have assured me that any home glue job will not hold.Just to ckeck them out,I tried a few.They are right,The joint fails very quickly.You don't want a 36 grit belt hitting you in the face!
