Dust Collection

Steve, in your video you briefly mentioned your Torit dust collector. Would you mind sharing a little more about it such as which model, the number of machines that can be connected to it and how well it does with steel grindings, etc. I've got a small Delta system designed for woodworking, but I've stopped using it because I actually started a small fire in it one day when I was grinding blades. Fortunately, I caught it soon enough there was no damage, but it got my attention. I've been putting up with the mess for a couple years now and would like to fix the problem. Thanks.

Mine is a Donaldson-Torit Model 60 CAB, 3/4hp, 3600 rpm. Get a bigger one if you can afford it.

Talk to a rep. you need a bigger unit, but from this site, I can't tell exactly what is what.
Ebay has 3-4 listed at decent prices, but get the specs on them and compare.

On your Torit, couldn't you just swap out the motor for something a little bigger, maybe 1 or 1.5 hp? I have the same one as you and was thinking of doing that myself.

Rick, that might work, but I don't get the feeling that the power is less than needed, perhaps a bigger fan is in order? I don't know, I'm not an engineer. Would that do the trick?

Bigger fan would certainly move more air. I was just thinking that the motor would upsize would be a cheap and easy fix. I honestly don't know if it would help or not................

Hello Everyone,

I don't think a larger fan would help in this case. The fans that come with these units will be sized to move the amount of air that the filter is rated for, if you try to move more air through the filter you may run into problems.
