Sullivan Model C Sheaths for Randall #14

I just recived two Randall #14's. I thought they were both recently made. I was surprised by the difference in the color of the sheaths. Maybe one of them is older than I thought. Anyone know why they are different?

Tom,
I, by no means, am an expert on sheaths. I "do" get a few in every month and every so often one turns out lighter tan, just like your bottom pic. I know that where the hide comes to Sullivan's from is partially responsible for the differences. Greg Gutcher dips them all in about the same process and for the same period of time. Some take a little less of the oil when dipped, for whatever reason. I like em', but I have had a few folks complain. I just tell them to send the whole rig back and I'll take care of it...They seldom do. I guess it either grows on em', or they take it up with Greg. Hope this helps. I'm sure Greg Gutcher can give you a much more expert opinion. Best, Captain Chris Stanaback

The stitching looks tighter on the lighter one also. They each have their own character.

Thanks guys.
I actually like them both but I am partial to the darker one.
Galco Gun Leather has a leather finish they call "Havana Brown". The color of a Cuban cigar? I don't know, never seen one. I get mine down at the Walgreens.
If I could get it all my gun and knife leather would be Havana Brown.
