Randall No.1 and sheath... do these go together?
Found this and would like to bid on it but the scabbard seems like it's for an older knife; true? Or is this brown button scabbard about right for this blade stamp? Again I'm looked at Jacknola's tread and I can't really pick this one out... anybody out there able to date this knife by the stamp? Also how common is the 8" version of the No. 1? and; it looks like someone cut away "a little" of the inside edge of the keeper strap... true? or is that a common factory "thing"?

Mitch,
The knife and sheath are a chronological match (Circa 1960). The sheath was made by Heiser and carries a Randall Made stamp on the back. IMO a 7" version was the most popular. 8" and 6" followed and you'll see about the same numbers. You rarely see 5" versions. "If" the keeper strap was shaved a bit, the impact on value would be negligible. Best, Ron |

Totally concur... 1960 looks good, but the stone with the white paint might be a problem as it supposedly was introduced later. Could be a 1960 made knife that was sheathed and shipped a couple of years later. Early 1960-late 1962 for sure.

Thanks Jacknola... yea it makes sense they used old stock first (the stone that is), or it's a replacement for a broken one?
Incidentally, I own two examples of the knife in your avitar! https://www.flickr.com/photos/190898...52634161/show/ FSSF!... they were the original badasses! regards, mitch __________________ ABS Journeyman Last edited by anvilring; 01-17-2015 at 07:17 AM. |

They go together "like peas and carrots."
