Jones Brothers one-off folder with engraving

This project has taken more time than we expected. Well, not really. I took my time on it because I did not want to screw anything up while building it. I had one shot with the wood scales. Plus, I had never made a knife to be engraved. I honestly did not know what to expect or what exactly to do prior to engraving. Thankfully, though, the engraver told me that everything was perfect for him to work his magic.

This folder was commissioned by a client for a very special set for his collection. There are at least 2 other pieces in the set but this is the only folder.

I took certain aspects from other folder designs and pieced them together to get this design. I will not make another one exactly like this in order to keep our client's special set that much more special.

On to the details.......

Blade length - 4"
overall length -
Steel - .170" 154CM w/ Paul Bos heat treat
Blade has 600 grit hand rubbed finish that was stropped (leather with green chrome buffing compound - shines everything up nice)
Dual .080" Ti liners
416 stainless steel bolsters and backspacer
Incredibly beautiful English Walnut scales sealed w/ Tung Oil
Engraving is by Robert Shade of Texas

The pics......

The English Walnut is stunning

Robert Shade's engraving is incredible. IMO, the scroll work is just enough to enhance the entire project but not overpower it.

We will have this folder on display at the Blade Show - Table 23-D. I'm going to have a professional photographer shoot better pics of this folder while there. My pictures do not do the piece justice.
