Starting with 18 gauge mild steel for a 3-inch handle.
Planish one side to work harden it for extra strength.
Texture the same side with a texturing hammer.
Fold it over and size the gap to the same size as the steel for the blade.
Rough out the handle form.
Open up the front of the spine to receive the blade.
