Hi RH, I live in the Seattle area, where you can get coils of used rope from fishermen. I got some off a crab boat from the Bering Sea. It's a hard rope, I don't know if it's hemp. But it's got lots of salt throughout the rope, so it's fairly hard on a knife edge.
