Here
I will show how I make my Boot Clips out of old worn
out
industrial metal cutting bandsaw blades. These need
no Heat treating That I have found.and they are very
stout
when finished.
All that is needed is a torch, pliers,
a vice, a blade and a way to grind it.
I use some old mild steel that the
edges are rounded on when I am bending metal.
First I start with the up bend so the clip can slip
over a boot or belt. Then I bend the piece the other
directon to make the clip stand up off the sheath.
Now I decide how long I want the clip
to be and slide the blade up in the metal holders.when
I am bending this material I only heat a line across
the blade near the holder so I get a even bend were
I want the bend to be.
Now I decide how long I want the back
side to be past the front of the clip and then cut it
off by using the edge of my platten with a 60 grit belt, once
you have it scored pretty deep it will bend and break
off.I drill three holes and then stitch this between
two pieces of leather but you can use a rivet if you
would prefer.I grind the teeth off the blade and then
just keep grinding until I get it to the width that
I want for the sheath that it is going on,I also grind
the other side enough to square it up if need be.
