12/16/09 surgery update on Ed

Hi All,

Sorry I'm so late giving an update. We just got him settled and a computer up and running. Well, where do I begin? They took out the mass and only the mass. That's the good news. The biopsy was inconclusive. They believe it is malignant, but not sure what kind yet. They don't believe it is lung cancer, which is a good thing. They suspect lymphoma and since it is only in the one area, with treatment there is a very good chance of full recovery. But we won't know what this thing is for sure for another 24 hours or so. The Doctors are baffled. They say it's very rare to have lymphoma start in the lungs. But as we have both said all along. God has had his hand in this the whole time and we still believe that. If it is lymphoma, it's caught very early and very treatable. So we are still believing for good news. Ed was trying to write this post himself but he can't even see the screen right now. The pain meds have him pretty messed up. Hopefully he'll be able to post tomorrow if he's up to it. They said he'll be in the hospital for at least 3 days. They had to open him up a little more than they expected to, so he has a chest tube which should come out tomorrow.

That's about all we know for now. I will post more as we know more.

Thank you again for everybody's concerns and prayers. It's much appreciated.

Cindy

Thanks for the update Cindy, I've had our church here in West Texas praying for him. Tell him to hang in there.
