Question what is the best grind?

what is the best grind for a multipurpose knife, a knife for cutting rope, meat and carving wood.

is it the hollow, flat or chisel grind

Normally, for cutting meat, I'd choose hollow grind. For cutting rope I'd choose flat ground. For woodcarving, I'd choose convex grind. If I had to choose a grind for all three, I'd choose flat ground. It will still work well for meat, but will be stronger than hollow ground. It will also be strong enough for cutting rope and light woodcarving.

Really and truly, it's your choice. There is no one "best" grind.

Flat grind with a convex edge.

What those guys said: flat grind. That's why you see so many survival/camp knives made with a flat grind - they have to do most every job and be strong at the same time.....
