Hawaiian Koa Wood?
Is Koa good for knife handles. Saw some on Ebay and it looked nice. I'm hesitant to buy it without knowing how dense it is first. If not, what other exotic woods are good and dense for handles?
Thanks, Steve Ferguson |

Koa makes a fine handle material, but it will profit greatly from having it stabilized.

I have a couple of blocks of koa that a good friend brought me from Hawaii. The finished items he bought were very good looking and were finished with orange oil.
I wonder if the stabilizing people could stabilize it AND stain it with orange oil or if the oil would mess things up. Any ideas if this would work? |
