practice knife

here is a practice knife made from a knife kit for engraving.its stainless steel with 22kt inlay and a small diamond.i have always wanted to make knifes and it sure felt good playing with the kit.i could sure see myself giving it some more of my time if i could drag myself away from my other hobbies.i have been spending most of my time in the last year to try getting my head round engraving and i am sure its going to stay that way.your comments are welcome but be kind.

My God! I've been striving for years and years to try and get 1/2 as far as what you are now. You have a special talent Jacques, take it from someone that can't quite get going, you really have a special talent.

There's so much to love about this...

The overall layout is fantastic...Love the symmetry that's created beginning with the map in the center...and then gradient "checkering?" that spreads out from there. And all the wonderful little touches...the cross hatch background used in the first oval surrounding the map, and then the background changing to the small stripes (subtle suggestion of sun rays?) used in the 2nd oval. Those interlocking rings on either side of that 2nd oval appear to be oh so perfectly executed...very precise. I even admire the lovely way you treated the screw.

And those rosettes at either end....wow.

So much to love. Just beautiful.
