Some new wootz bars
After a somewhat longer break due to several problems and finally a broken down air hammer, i could go back to work some weeks ago. I was happy to do some work on some wootz ingot and forged out a bit of bar stock.
The smallest bar has gotten a so-called kirknarduban- or ladder-pattern before forging it to it's final size. Finally i ground it clean and did a little test etching. In this closeup you can see the designs very well but with some more fine grinding and a more thoroughful etch, they will look even better. Will make some nice blades. Achim |

That's an excellent pattern.

A beautiful pattern!
Hey Achim!
That is a great pattern, and the ladder comes through beautifully. Great job on the wootz, and if you don't mind, could you give me a quick rundown on how you made it? Once again, terrific! Tom |

Really nice. Reminds me more of waves in the ocean rather than a ladder though. I think what you're doing is just incrediable.
