Stag coating/preserver/finish?????
Howdy all,
I have searched my fingers to the bone and have found nothing on this topic so hear goes.. What if anything should be applied to a stag crown handle to help preserve it? Thanks, Jerid |

None required after the stag is buffed. A little wax from time to time helps remove hand oils and dirt.

Howdy Yamama!
When I use a full section elk or white tail antler I use thin super glue in the open capileries until it comes out the other side. It never seem like a good idea to use something as strong as JB Weld to set in a half tang in the soft center of an antler. Howard |

Thanks guys.
I used epoxy to set in the tang. George, Is basic caranuba wax ok or do you recommend something else? Thanks, Jerid |

Any good paste wax for furniture will do the job but I prefer Rennaisance wax, brings up the colour of the wood and such very well while it floats the dirt off.

Epoxy shrinks, thats why I use the JB Weld. It has steel powder in it to set my antler.
Also I have used the Mimwax stain/wax liquid on old sheds that are dry from laying in the woods so long. I will put it on and wipe it off thee or four times until I get the look I want. I will send an e-mail of one. Howard |
