Proper Term??

Just wondering if anyone knows the proper term if there is one for the spacer you sometimes see on knives between the blade and the guard. Usually a flat piece. Kind of like a guard cover. Was trying to describe it to someone, and had no idea what it was called.

Thanks and God Bless
Mike

I've heard it called a number of different things over the years.....it seems to me that everyone kinda comes up with their own way to describe it. My term for it is "Forward guard accent". I doubt thats the correct term, and if someone jumps in here that can enlighten us, I'd be happy to change my terminology!

I guess we're all differient. When I use one, I refer to it as "the plate that hides a really bad job of drilling and filing out a hole for the tang". I like yours better though Ed!
