Hi Chris!

It's my pleasure.

The Rangers have a special place in my hockey heart, being one of the original SIX. Ah those were the days...

Even with the first expansion to twelve teams, who coudn't like hockey back then?

However, with 10 minutes to go until game time, I must go and try to conjur up the spirits of hockey past.

Argh! Les Canadiens lost one in overtime. Oh well, we still have a 2 games to one lead in the series.

Ironically, after Gary mentioned his eye injury, the Habs captain, Saku Koivu received a high stick to his left eye, and had to leave the game early in the second period. He wears a visor, but it didn't prevent the tip if the stick coming up from underneath. There should have been an automatic four minute penalty called, even if it was accidental, but both refs didn't see it.

Chris, you're right about the rule changes improving the game a lot. There are much fewer stoppages in play, and there's a real flow of action now, allowing the real skills to come, rather than the goon tactics we've seen for the last 20 years.

Anymore closet hockey buffs out there?

Cheers!

Moosehead

Hey Meeses,

I just went to the Walgreen's to pick up some batteries and the gentlemen in front of me was buying SIX, yes, count them 6 Symphony Chocolate candy bars, King Size!!!

I made a comment about someone having a sweet-tooth and he told me they were the BEST!!, from Canada, of course. He said he was stocking up for the Mon. Canadians game this evening!! He then proceeded to tell me after I mentioned I was a Bruin fan that Montreal had won 21 Championships and that maybe I should think about switching to a winner!!!

Didn't realize all Canadians were all delusional!!!

I guess they all "just ain't right!!", by the way, my Mom was born in Quebec!! So that proves my last statement!!!

Watch this GREAT Lighting comeback, just like the 'Sox of '04!!!

Hi DW!

You crack me up! Talk about delusional...

The fella at Walgreen's was just trying not to make you feel so bad about those poor Bears.

Les Canadiens have actually won TWENTY-FOUR Stanley Cups!

But Hey, I'm living for today, and there's no way the Lightning are going to strike anything, except - OUT!

However, since you are a Bruins fan, and they gave us Don Cherry, you have gotten your revenge and should be satisfied.

And since you Mom is originally from Quebec, I guess you're forgiven.

Cheers!

Moosehead (like the beer, it's Canadian eh?)

P.S. More gloating tomorrow, I promise.

Double Argh!!

Nope, no gloating possible today. The Hurricanes beat the Habs 3-2 to tie the series at two games each. My next opportunity to gloat comes Sunday night in Raleigh.

Cheers!

Sorry DW! I'll try to do better next time, but I'll need help from my team.

So the Hurrc's are your 2nd favourites, eh? ------------
I wonder what the Captain (that is our very own hurricane ravaged Cap) would think, but luckily for you, he never reads the Off Topic forum.

Cheers!

Well folks, the Tampa Bay Lighting had a power failure and have been eliminated from playoff contention by the Senators from Ottawee.

From now on my ever contentious fiend (typo) DW, they will be known as the FORMER Stanley Cup champions!

I told you I would find somethimg to gloat about today.

Now if the Canadiens can just beat Carolina tonight...

Cheers!

Triple Argh! and one more for good measure...

Well, now that I got that out of my system...

Yup, DW is quite right, everything is all set up for an exciting, gut wrenching, seventh game final game, with the Habs forcing out those crying towels in Raleigh next Thursday night.

Of course, there's the little matter of les Canadiens winning on Tuesday...

Anyway, folks, I take delight in the fact that in the AHL, the Manitoba MOOSE ( http://www.moosehockey.com/ ) beat the Syracuse Crunch to clinch the series and move on to the next round against the Grand Rapids Griffins on their road to the Calder Cup! Take that DW!

Cheers!

Moose tears

Well Mr. Mooseheads' beloved hockey team has bit the dust for another year.

I am sure there will be Moose tears on many cheeks in the Province of Quebec. Please be kind to Moosehead for the next 4 months, until his beloved team takes to the ice again.

On the positive side, the Canadiens will probably have some of the best golfing hockey players in the NHL!!!!

HEADLINE:

HURRICANES HAND HAPLESS HABITANTS HURTFUL HUMILIATION: HEARTS and HEADS HANG HEAVILY in HABSVILLE.

Quadruple Argh!

Well I'm sick and devastated...

Thanks for your sympathy Rod, and Scott I appreciate you not rubbing it in.

I promise I won't respond to this defeat with a lot of cliches.

So.... Les Canadiens gave it their all, and would have won if not for the lousy refereeing. Or, our best players failed to show up every night . Or, the team's in a rebuilding period. And finally, there's always next year.

As for the DEVILS, I wish them good luck!

As for the REDSOX, are they a basketball team?

Boo Hoo Hoo!

Moosehead

Okay folks,
so here we are a month and a half later and the Hurricanes are about to face off against the Edmonton Oilers down in Raleigh tonight in the seventh and deciding game of the 2006 Stanley Cup finals. What could be more exciting? (Don't answer.)

Now fess up, how many of you are going to be watching?

Please don't jam up the forums with your responses.

I for one will be trying to stay awake, and praying that the game doesn't go into triple overtime.

LET'S GO OILERS!!!

Cheers!

David
