Hi Terence,

The two nylon washers are in error. That kit doesn't need them. The design is a slipjoint. The blade and liners are in contact. You'll add gap using the shim stock.

Great choice! That's an awesome kit!

Remember, you can polish the blade and liners to tune the action to the degree that you like.

Call us if you need any help!

Use the shims between the blade and liners to create a gap for movement. If you peen it together without using shims, it'll be so tight that you can't get the blades to move. The shims are used to create this gap, once removed.

Call us if you need help!!!

Put a bit of thin oil on the shim to aid in removing once peening is done. Ask me how I know!

You can also regrind the blade that comes with the kits. Check out some of the images in the galleries over on knifekits.com. The gallery (#1 & #2) links are on the lower left-hand side of the web pages here: ( https://www.knifekits.com/vcom/index.php )

If anyone wants to send in some images of their recent kit mods, contact me here (PM) or through the knifekits.com contact form here ( https://www.knifekits.com/vcom/contact_us.php ). We'll be happy to post them with your name and contact data for our visitors to view.
