Home-Brewed KMG Tool Arms

Got tired of one KMG tool arm, switching out 8" wheel with flat platen with small wheel attachment. Have a local metal supply house called Metal By The Foot. Aluminum stock cut to 1.5" x 1.5" x 22" was only $22 a piece. Bought 2.

Had the 3/8-16 tap and 21/64" drill bit. Had to smooth sides with 120 grit to get off a few dings. Used a gray Scotchbrite belt to polish and smooth edges. Waxed aluminum with some Harley silicone spray wax I have.

Works and looks great, and have 2 new arms for $44 and my time. The Beaumont KMG arms are $80 each, both steel and aluminum + shipping. Can't afford that. Hope this helps somebody with the same problem.

Thank BC, got to save money any way I can!

My cousin Rob (Skid) lives in Fanny Bay, I guess on Vancouver Island or somewhere about there. He keeps wanting me to ride my Electra Glide up there to visit him. Someday I will make the trip. Take care.

Good move on Al, my steel arms weigh a ton.
Biggest trick is to measure measure measure before drilling/tapping so everything tracks well.
Nice work.
