Belt Grinder Speed Recommendations for Polishing

So for the variable-sped crowd, how much do you slow your grinder down for polishing belts? At the moment mine is single-speed running about 3500sfm, great for hogging but pulishing can get to be a bit much. Using the Trizact Gator grit belts helps keep too much heat from building up, but i get the feeling that a 600 grit AO j-flex is going to build heat a lot faster. Im going to add in an extra set of pulleys 2 inch on the motor and 4 on the drive wheel, should get me down to around 1700sfm, or a 1.5 inch pulley for about 1300sfm.

Opinions on either speed?
