Question Heat Treat HELP!!

I'm starting to gather equipment to transition into doing my own heat treating.

Can someone please tell me the best place to buy a Dewar?

Also what is a good liter size, I'm finding them from 3 to 30 liters.

Anything else I'm may not know you can think of please enlighten me.

thank you

Bigjohn

Most often a Dewar is used in livestock operations.... Here's a listing for one on facebook:

Personally, mine holds 54lbs of liquid. The tough part is finding/having a local source to fill your Dewar. You can expect liguid Nitrogen to last only a week or two in a Dewar, unless you take steps to make it last longer.

I built a plywood "box" that my dewar fits inside. The box is lined with 2" of insulation. I place the filled dewar inside, and fill all the airspace surrounding it with vermiculite, and place a piece of R30 fiberglass insulation on top. Depending on the outside temps, a filled tank will last approx. a month.

If you've not already checked into it, be prepared..... a dewar is expensive, and filling/maintaining it isn't cheap either!
