Boyar Schultz 612 surface grinder

Hello!

I've been blessed with an older model Boyar Schultze 612 surface grinder, and am in the process if getting it up and running. It's missing the wheel nut to afix/secure the grinding wheel ! It is1 1/4" in diameter, havnt figured out the pitch yet and I can't tell if the threads are right or left handed. I know its supposed to be a spanner or pin wretch type nut to tighten and loosen.

Does anyone know where I could get a replacement? I may have to get one made. Havnt had much luck causally searching the interwebs. However, I did locate an old manual from antiquemachinery.com, but it doesn't say much about it (no part number or anything) it does mention a special puller that originally came with the machine, but I don't have it either.

Any help would be appreciated!

I'll try and add photos later

Hi ya Alex,

You keep building that workshop !! I have no clue but I hope someone does.
I will make some time to come down as soon as it warms up a bit so we can play.
Did momma let you get a pole barn for all this?? Last time I was down, only
you and I had room to work, adding a grinder? Take over the garage too?

Best to you,
Troy

Hey Troy! No pole barn (I wish - then I could fire up a forge!) I'm move towards classic folding patterns. Super handy to be able to surface grind the springs and blade thicknesses to the same width.

Yessir come on over - and bring some of the exotic wood handle material you've been working with! I'll find a use for it.

Best Regards

information: I was able to locate this part in MSC Direct's catalog for about $26+shipping.

Now the search is on for a permanent magnetic chuck... ebays got them for about $200. I'll probly go that route, unless someone has a better option?
