Which company manufactures the Craftsman 2x42 sander?

I can't seem to find another sander/grinder like it but I assume like other craftsman products that Sears just pays another company to put Craftsman stickers on their product? Anyone know?

I know that JET makes one very similar to my 1999 vintage Craftsman....

There is also a Dayton version that looks identical.

2 x 42

I just bought the Jet model prior to Christmas. Couldn't afford the 2 x 72, figured this as an interim as I own a 1 x 30.
I like the unit. Able to purchase belts online and have made a couple of knives with it.
Love the forum.

Chances are, that Sears has a contract with some company for the manufacture of the grinder. It more than likely changes from time to time, when the contract is up with said manufacturer, and the contract is bid on again. I`m not sure which company though. Sorry

Not the 2x42, but maybe even better, you could check out the 2x48 "Jiffy" sander attachment I make..

www.AKGrinders.com

I was wanting a 2" belt grinder for making knives, but didn't like the available options, so built something. After a couple years of using it, I think it is one of the best tools in my shop, and one of the first ones I would replace if I had to start all over. I did do a speed change on mine, but slower is better for much of the handle shaping or sharpening.
